Marriott Bonvoy is the largest hotel program in the world, and since March 2022 it's been entirely dynamically priced - there's no fixed award chart, and the points a night costs rise and fall with the room's cash rate. Every route below is built around Marriott's better value-for-money brands, so that the total trip stays under 200,000 points. Two levers stretch it further: Stay for 5, Pay for 4 (five straight nights at one hotel on points = the lowest night free, standard all-points redemptions only), and basing in a cheap city to day-trip an expensive one. Every stop is within a 3-4 hour train, drive, or ferry.
The catch (a friendly heads-up)
We've done our homework - every hotel here is a real Marriott Bonvoy property, every point range is our best honest estimate, and every route is designed to slip under 200,000 points for the whole trip. But here's the thing: Marriott prices award nights dynamically, so the exact points a room costs shift with the season, the dates, and how busy the hotel is - and they can change after we hit publish. Think of these routes as well-scouted starting points, not guarantees. A little checking on your end, and you're golden.
Central Europe: Bratislava base, Vienna by day, then Budapest
Vienna is wonderful, but even on points, she does not always come cheap. The savvy move: make Bratislava your home base and get two destinations out of one hotel stay. Vienna is roughly an hour away by car, so you can spend the day soaking up its grandeur while saving big on hotels. Then, if you are up for one more memory, Budapest is just about 2.5 hours from Bratislava, waiting with thermal baths, Danube views, and drinks worth lingering over.

Does "under 200k" mean per hotel or the whole trip?
Each figure is a dated planning scenario for the hotel nights across the full route. It is not a live quote or a promise that the same total remains available for your dates.
Why budget and mid-tier only?
The route ideas favor participating properties that were more likely to fit the 200,000-point planning target when checked. Dynamic redemption pricing can move any property above or below that target, so every stay still needs a fresh search.
Why is there no Algarve or Douro Valley hotel?
Their only Marriott properties are luxury-tier (Pine Cliffs, W Algarve; Torel Quinta da Vacaria in the Douro), which don't fit a budget, all-points trip. So the Douro is a day trip from Porto, and the Algarve is left as an optional splurge.
How does the fifth-night-free benefit work?
Five consecutive nights at one hotel entirely on points = the lowest-priced night free, automatically, for any member. Standard all-points redemptions only - not Cash + Points or certificates. Single-base routes capture it; multi-stop routes usually don't.
Why can't you give exact point costs?
Marriott uses flexible redemption rates that can change with dates and demand. Always search the exact stay with "Use Points" selected, and compare flexible dates before transferring or purchasing points.
